I think the negative comments are being quite dramatic. I went for the first time in NYC with a friend, and we wanted to budget while still being comfortable. We got a very clean room with a huge bed, a nice bathroom and a cool view. Plus we were in the middle of queens, meaning good and various restaurants (Latin American, Asian food, etc) The service was great: we were even quite annoying with the receptionists because we had to wake up early (5am) and use the common fridge, but they were all really nice and patient with us. I feel like those who had a bad experience went with way too much expectations. This a decent hotel, cheap and close enough to NY. We had a great time and we recommand it.

Good value for NYC. I got a nice clean room on the 7th floor and they let me check out at noon and held my bag while I explored the city for the day. I'd stay here again, it's not worth paying 2x the price for a big chain hotel here.
